About the role
First Bank of Nigeria Limited (FirstBank) is Nigeria's largest financial services institution by total assets and gross earnings, with over 10 million customer accounts and more than 750 branches. The Bank is seeking an Application Security Specialist to join its ICT team in Lagos.
The role focuses on securing web, mobile, API, and enterprise applications through security assessments, secure development practices, vulnerability management, and DevSecOps integration. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in information security or application security, with strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10, API security, and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities
- Conduct security assessments of web, mobile, API, and enterprise applications to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Support the adoption of secure coding practices and ensure security requirements are integrated into software development activities.
- Track, prioritize, and support remediation of application security vulnerabilities identified through testing exercises.
- Coordinate and perform application security reviews, code reviews, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
- Work with development and DevOps teams to embed security controls within CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Provide security guidance during solution design, system implementation, and technology transformation initiatives.
- Ensure applications comply with established security standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Promote application security awareness across technology teams and support secure coding education initiatives.
